Easy rung today 5 miles after the stress of Friday. But all good. Had to love the video call from the Cardiff forum of my running club to check I was ok. Just lovely people. Still buzzing after the call with the Charity yesterday, but more later this week as my new meds are making it hard to type a sensible sentence today!! Longish run tomorrow then I promise I’ll update more fully after it. Oh and the lilies came out in my garden. Memories of my grandmother x
So after my brain decided that playing a game of charades on Friday - 4 words/tv programme/24 hours in A&E - I didn’t run at all that day. But a Huge thanks to all the staff at the Princess of Wales in ED/AMU for your kindness and care. The upside was a fantastic zoom meeting with the neurology lead from the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal Free Charity staff where I heard what the money raised will go towards - it is so exciting and will benefit people with epilepsy across the UK - more to follow. I am now so excited and more motivated than ever.
10 mile long Run
Long run today - started really well but as it got hotter and more humid I got slower!! No good at mapping my distances as missed by a mile but over is better than under!!

One drunk niece picked up, delivered home. She is going to love the fact that my stairs need hoovering tomorrow morning. Has to be done very early (obviously) and with loud base music. It’s the only way to hoover the Stairs (which are outside her door). I hate having dusty stairs. And then I might have to the use the drill to put up some shelves....l

Afternoon Run
So been a bit quiet on my running updates. Life has been hectic - trying to get all policies and procedural documents so the trampoline club can go back next week, my last week/day at the Bridgend Field Hospital, meeting with the staff from the Royal Free Charity about the project I am fundraising and trying to sort all paperwork so I can start my new job. But I’ll be more up to date from the end of this week.
After my trip to A&E last week I ran 10 miles on Sunday, and a very wet 4 miles on Monday. Still no news from the organisers of the London Marathon but it doesn’t matter as I’m going to keep training anyway and do 26 miles on 4 October either as part of the VLM or on my own.
So it was all going well until yesterday when I fell - well basically apparently did superman impression in the middle of Bridgend. Interestingly my Apple Watch has fall protection (which I thought I had disabled) which called 111 who sent paramedics. Whilst somewhat embarrassing it probably wasn’t a bad thing that I hadn’t disabled that feature. Anyway quick trip to A&E again, meeting the same nurses which is totally embarrassing, this time I managed to escape after a few hours.
Damaged some ligaments in my knee and ankle but it will all mend quickly, and hopefully they can sort out why my clumsiness has got so much worse recently!! I was hoping to get back on a trampoline this weekend, but I think that is something I will need to take advice on. It isn’t how I wanted to finish my trampolining career (I was hoping for one more competition) but if it has to be then it will have to be.
So today I did a very easy run for 3miles. All good but definitely going to have to wear a knee brace for a bit to stabilise. But good to be back out. I was told I might be worried, but one thing I have learned from trampolines and gymnastics is that if you want something enough you can overcome all fear, and that you need to get straight back to it.

So didnt run tonight - my knee was a little stiff after the tempo run yesterday and too busy preparing risk asessments and paperwork for the trampoline club to restart tomorrow. Whilst it will be different I hope everyone enjoys being back. Im still not sure whether Im going in to coach yet or not - honestly not sure about readiness but time will tell. Anyway I did get a chance to be model for my niece who is making a family birthday card which was fun. And the most beautiful weather today
Saturday is the end of shielding in England. Saturday I can go back to coach. It has just hit me that this is now happening - I am quite nervous - really veering more towards terrified. Not because of the coaching - I believe we have done everything we can possibly do to make the club and sport as safe as we can. It’s the unknown- the travelling, public transport, people you come across, even if I have to go into a shop. These things are totally out of my control. It doesn’t help when you see the R rates in England. Wales seems so safe in comparison.
So this week I had an exciting call with the very enthusiastic neurology lead at the Royal Free (who it turns out is also my consultant!) and staff from the Charity. So the plan is to build an app to help patients Risk Assess elements of their lives, to give them more control and keep them safe. Its a fantastic idea and will really make a difference to people having more control over their lives. So I have changed my target - we need to make 10000. It must be possible and if anyone has any ideas please let me know :)
Am I ready for the new normal - I honestly don’t know. 24 hours to decide I guess.
