Nice gentle morning run this morning to get a coffee...pity about the rain which hammered down halfway through. No need for a shower after though!!

So no running today as a trip to meet my neurologist. After a slight hiccups getting to Barnet and being told it was meant to be a telephone consultant and I had been sent the wrong letter, the lovely staff arranged for it to be a face to face appointment which was wonderful. It also happens that she is the Epilepsy Lead for the RA App I am raising funds for so it was fantastic to meet her face to face. Also I have seen what my brain looks like and how many people get to do that?! (And photographic evidence I do have one).

So Im running the virtual 40th Marathon. I will be running it in London around the RFL Trust sites. If anyone wants to come and join me even for a mile I would love the company and motivation! You dont have to run - you can just wave and smile and shout things!

3 mile warm up 3 mile tempo 3 mile cool down

Rocking the pirate look today - sick of my hair in my face! So actually not so tempo as the middle three miles does involve crossing a dual carriageway so can’t be done too fast! But not a bad pace. First day on new meds and it’s the first day in so long that I don’t have a headache - makes running so much more enjoyable.

So getting used to life after my appointment yesterday and my new labels as it were. First day on the new meds and it’s the first day in so long that I don’t have a headache - makes running so much more enjoyable. It’s only when something disappears that you realise how much you have just been used to it being there. I guess that applies to annoying headaches as well as the good things in life we missed over COVID.

Rocking the pirate look today - sick of my hair in my face, but quite like it longer so this is the odd looking compromise.

Not so tempo as it was meant to be, as the middle three miles does involve crossing a dual carriageway so can’t be done too fast! But not a bad pace. Disappointing that the waves weren’t as massive as they were earlier this week though - was hoping for some good photos!

Anyway I found a QR code which apparently makes it easier to donate to Royal Free Charity in sympathy for my running in a storm!! Or just follow the link

Evening Run

How things have changed this year - this time last year I had been skiing, on holiday to Cornwall, been for a break in France. coached a summer camp in France (different part!) and was about to coach a summer camp in wales. Had a secure job(s) as did Chris.

Since this time last year - I have changed job 5 times, 4 of them since 1 March, and been nowhere. Chris has been made redundant. All plans for holidays and events cancelled.

I know it’s the same for everyone but as it’s September next week, the start of autumn, it really brings it into focus. Just fingers crossed for no more lock downs. Make the most of every day. Enjoy every minute. Take every opportunity. You never know when it might change.

After a great day in work looking at referenced pain scaling for an AI triage project, I resorted to a Treadmill run tonight due to the weather in Wales. Definitely a pain scale score of 10 as I always fall off treadmills and today was no exception. But managed a 5k - somewhat short of my target of 6 miles but I’ll make it up this weekend. Apart from that - my Shielding lanyard and badge arrived from the Bevan Commission just in time for me to start my new job at NHS Wales Informatics Service on Tuesday. So excited.

So my certificate for finishing the Ride London Cycle Virtual event came. I’m actually so proud bur can’t wait to do it for real next year

So I did manage a run today - a slow hard 10 miles, followed by a 20 min cycle in the gym. Starting to get worried about this marathon as I seem to be getting slower! I also got sent the coolest unicorn mask which I love and deep cleaned some trampolines - got to love the smell of chlorine in the evening. Happy Saturday. So it was deep cleaning day at coaching today. Beautiful smell of chlorine to go with the Clinell smell we are now used to! Hard work but we know the equipment is as safe as it can be.

Felt very much like being in work though - PPE, Actichlor and Clinell!!

Massive thanks to all that helped out moving tramp’s, mats and the usual clean but particularly Libby and Louise for assisting with the deep clean part.

Thank you so much Janet Payne. I love my mask. How can anything be better than purple unicorns? After an awful weekend it made me smile so much xxx

Lunch Run

Easy recovery run - mainly because I missed my lift to Bridgend and didn’t make it to any bus stop in time to catch one!

Having done the usual housework I ran a Nice easy 8 miles run yesterday which I needed as was feeling slightly stressed and a bit down. Realised how much I love running as I’m concentrating so much on not falling that I can forget everything else (does hell when it’s not raining tbh!). Really was a beautiful day in wales. As I was meant to only run 4 miles today this was a little further - mainly because I intended to run 4 miles then get the bus to Bridgend. However for the first and only time, said bus was 1 minute early so I missed it.
