So I started running because I challenged the trampolinists I coach to do a 5K race in March. Encourgaged by a friend, I decided I couldnt just walk it and started on the Couch to 5K. As you can see from the photos I have always been on the larger side, I have damaged ankles and knees from years of gymnastics and trampolining and everyone apart from a couple of people laughed and said ÿou cant run". Therefore, to be honest, entirely right. So for a long time I kept it very quiet. As you can see from the embarassing photos, even though I worked a manual job I struggled to lose weigth (this part came much later when lockdown hit).
Basically I kept up the running/walking (more walking than running) through the wind and rain, or more often on a treadmill as I have access to Nuffield and Virgin Active to keep up to the 5K race. On the way I was encouraged to enter a few more races whcih were obviously cancelled because of COVID but we didnt know this at the time. But it seemed good motivation.
I have to say I dont think I was particularly enjoying running on 8 March I managed a 20 mile run and it nearly killed me for about a week but I was so proud of myself. I think at that point I thought that maybe I should keep running as whilst I am slower than a snail at least it was getting me outside! I have found massive issues with my GPS which turned out to be firstly someone hacked into my phone and that as I own a company and use apple products and Apple ID because other staff were logged onto the same account when my phone or watch lost GPS signal, or the other person was hacked on and in another country, the phone/watch would pick up another GPS signal for that account. So my runs from that time are all over the place. ALways an issue in Wales as signal is bad but also london because of the bigger buildings apparently. So even this run shows as slightly short.
